Hapland Controls
Puzzle games have been known for... well, being puzzling! Nah, they are not popular for complicated or finger-twisting controls. And Hapland is not an exception. Just like other puzzle games out there in the internet, you just need to use your mouse. It's a point-and-click game where what matters the MOST is knowing where to click and when. Let's have a closer look at the game.

Hapland Walkthrough
Stick figures and puzzle games have the power to suck you into their own little world. No, they are NOT just fun... they are very addictive! And when you combine these 2 genres into one neat package, you get a game that will keep you glued on your monitor and seats for the hours to come - Hapland! Created by the imaginative and bizarre mind of Robin Allen, whether you are a fan of stick figure games or puzzle games, you will love this... PERIOD!
An interactive world overflowing with pure doses of bizarreness, there is no doubt that this flash-based puzzle game stands out from the rest of the pack. The objective is quite bleak, it's NOT as 'cut and dried' like the goals of most puzzle games out there. What I can tell you, however, is that it has something to do with 2 torches that you need to light up. Once they are lit, the stone portal will open and will unveil the power concealed in it. So what is this 'power'? I, myself, don't have even the slightest idea. I think you need to ask Allen for that one. Anyway, while the objective doesn't sound too difficult, getting there is a different story.
When you play Hapland, you will find yourself constantly clicking with your mouse to trigger different events in this weird world. The hard part is that you don't know what EXACTLY you are trying to trigger! And to make it even more challenging, not every event can be triggered in a single click. Some of them require multiple clicks; others require laser-accurate timing; and those are just to name a few. The stick figures within this puzzle game react to certain actions / events. And some of them would even get killed in the process... and in a rather bloody way if I may add. If seeing blood or seeing stick figures getting smashed or minced, etc is something you cannot easily take, then this game may NOT be for you. HOWEVER, if you are after a puzzle game that will really squeeze the last ounces of your creative juices, you are in for a treat with Hapland!
As for the other aspects of the game like the design and themes; animation of the characters and objects within the game; sound effects and music, don't worry. All of them are nicely done. They work hand in hand... fluidly orchestrating an absorbing and puzzling gaming experience.
How puzzling you ask? Well, I think saying it has the ability to turn you into a paranoid is NOT an exaggeration! For one thing, I found myself turning off the lights (in-game lights fellas) whenever I start a level. Why? Simple, I just hate the idea of restarting an almost-done level because of the damn lights... something that happened to me in the game. And no, it's NOT just me. There are players that open the window whenever they get the chance and those are just to name a few. YES, the game's puzzling and bizarre atmosphere will surely rub on you when you play it long enough.
I'm sure some of you are scratching their heads right now as many of what I have said doesn't make any sense... at least for now. My suggestion? Play the game and get your hands dirty. While this isn't those super complicated games that have neck-breaking speed, it does require A HECK LOT of precision. And I figured that, perhaps, giving you the name of the stick figures found throughout the game should help. There are 3 of them:
(1) The Cave Man: This fella is trapped at the bottom. (2) The Lever Man: You will find the Lever Man just right beside the cannon. (3) Tower Man - He's right beside the bell and you will see him when you reach the later stages of the game. In case you get screwed and you are stuck, don't worry. You can always hit the reset button, which is located at the bottom right part of the screen. This will start over the level.
If you are a HUGE fan of puzzle games that are crazy, bizarre, puzzling, and has a little dose of violence, Hapland is a game you just have to check out!
